Fred Cullum has considerable experience which started in 1979 as a safety representative addressing health and safety concerns.

During employment as a healthy and safety advisor with a Regional Council experience was gained within a wide spectrum of activity including, water treatment works, building repairs and construction, vehicle maintenance, Printing, Education and Social Work.  Education expanded beyond schools into the inspection of a diverse range of premises for training placements.  Within Social Work this included workshops, residential premises for youth, senior citizens, nurseries and childcare.

From 1994 until 2011 experience was gained within the emergency service environment, policing.  As well as day to day issues advice was also provided during major incidents helping to look after the safety of employees and others.

Fred has been engaged within a number of national roles over the years.  In 1994 he was invited to serve on a Home Office Working Group when legislation and guidance was being produced for the police service.   He has been engaged in national groups within the police service in areas such as risk assessment and training, latterly chairing a group which developed core health and safety training standards to be applied across the UK.

In recent years Fred has assisted in the review of moving and handling training and the delivery of training for trainers within the police service.

From 2002 until 2009 Fred was chair of the Association of Police Health and Safety Advisors (APHSA) www.aphsa.org.uk

Over the years Fred has delivered training courses and presentations at further education establishments and conference events.

After leaving the Police Service in December 2011 to set up Enable Safety Ltd Fred was asked to continue as chair of the police health and safety training group until the completion of a learning package for chief officers.
